Tips

  • Your reader mispronounces a word. (read more)
  • You can try to spell the word (Fone-net-tik-lee).
    Our readers recognize the sounds that each letter make. We also follow most linguistic rules,
    but as we all know, there are always exceptions to the rule.
    If there is a mispronounciation, please try to spell the word like it sounds, versus the correct spelling.
  • Problems with Spanish and French (read more)
  • We have different readers that speak different languages. If you are trying to listen to Spanish or French , make sure you select a reader than is fluent in that language. In the dropdown list of Readers, the language of each reader is next to their name.
  • Creating a longer pause (read more)
  • The SILENCE tag inserts silence of the specified duration (in milliseconds) into the audio stream at the specified location.
    <Silence msec="500" /> inserts 500 milliseconds of silence into the audio stream.
  • Multiple voices in the same reading. (read more)
  • The Voice tag allows the application to change the voice of the TTS speaker from the input text.
    You can use this feature to change voices, e.g. you might use different voices to speak different sections of an email message or carry on a conversation between two different voices.
    Example
    <Voice Required="name=maria"> Hola, me llamo Maria</Voice> is pronounced, "Hola, me llamo Maria" using Maria’s Spanish voice.
    You can include any number of tags in the input text to change voices and languages. Eg.
    <Voice Required="name=nina"> I’m Nina</Voice> <Voice Required="name=maria"> me llamo Maria</Voice> <Voice Required="name=mike"> I’m Mike </Voice>

  • Changing the Reading Speed (read more)
  • We enable you to set the speed of which our Readers, read. You must select to varry the before clicking the read button. By sliding the "reader speed bar) to the right, you will increase the readers speed. Conversely, sliding the bar to the left, will slow down the reading speed. Please make a few short readings, varying the speed, untill you find a speed that is appropriate for you. Remember, you must select the speed before you hit the read button.
